SHAYNA’S

VERSION

On the patio of The Library Bar downtown, I spotted Colin and his handsome cool demeanor. I was trying to give him the signal to come over and talk to me. He seemed like he was unfazed and uninterested. He started walking out of the bar and I thought it was my last chance to meet him.

So I ran after him and followed him to the street. We quickly found out that we had a similar connection being from Iowa. I initially didn’t believe him and thought it was a pick up line but when he said he was from Bettendorf, I knew he was telling the truth. Colin invited me and my friends to get late night breakfast together. We continued to talk and exchanged numbers at the end of the evening.

One thing I neglected to mention above is that I believed Colin to be a model. He told me he was a photographer but I thought he was too good looking to not be a model. When I was producing a photoshoot and needed a model, he was the first person I thought of! I had butterflies in my stomach asking him. He kept trying to say if I needed a model we could use his friend, Jon. I wasn’t interested because all I really wanted was to see him again. He finally agreed.

We spent the day at Dockweiler Beach. There is photographic evidence of our awkward, sweet first unofficial date.

Since that date, I knew he was my person.  He has been by my side through it all. When he asked me to marry him, it was the easiest yes I have ever said.

COLIN’S

VERSION

One night at a bar with a few friends, I saw the cutest girl across the patio smiling at me. We made eyes at each other while I worked up the courage to try my luck. As I finally thought up the perfect thing to say and began to walk over, another man sauntered up just before me, to try to woo her table. Defeated, I decided to head outside to get some air only to be followed by the cute girl from across the patio! Her name was Shayna. She was so bright and full of energy (as anyone who knows her knows) and said straight off, ‘We were making eyes in there and then you just were going to leave without talking to me?’ in that endearingly upfront way Shayna has about her.

I knew she was someone special and that I had to see her again. I got her and my group to head over to the 24hr diner down the street to get to know eachother better and walked them home. A few days later after coercing me to be a ‘model’ for a small photoshoot she was putting together, our first date was set.

When I showed up I thought I saw her.. Was that her? I swore she had dark hair the other night, and now short and blond? Sure enough, always keeping me on my toes. The next months were filled with adventure. Convincing me she was in the russian mob, surf lessons, mortal kombat tournaments, fort building.. We definitely had something special. And we have continued that adventure with a love of new and delicious foods, our trip to Japan, off-roading trips, and motorcycling. I can’t wait to experience all of the new adventures we will have together.

How We Made Em’

With Shayna’s art direction, Colin drew our invites inspired by a funky concert poster. We then got our five color design laser cut into stamps to print our 100 invitations.

Then we got printing!

With our five colors, that’s 500 stamps! And a couple of sore shoulders :)

Each invitation came out just a little different and we hope you feel the all the love we put into them. Check out the process!
